Kitara FC will be aiming for a first-leg advantage when they take on Mogadishu City in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round at Hoima City Stadium on Sunday.

Mogadishu City will host the first leg of the contest at Hoima City after the club failed to meet CAF requirements for their stadium to host a game of this magnitude.

This will be the maiden international game to be played at Hoima City Stadium.

Kitara, who now have the advantage of playing both legs at home, will be desperate to make it to the next round of the competition.

Coach George Lutalo, who serves alongside Wasswa Bbosa, believes playing the game in front of their home fans gives them an advantage.

“Playing in Hoima gives us the advantage and the fans should come and be behind us because we need to win,” said Lutalo, who will be in charge as Wasswa Bbosa is still studying for his CAF A coaching course.

Lutalo also promised the fans entertaining football.

“I am confident in my players to do well. We have sharpened them and we expect goals and entertainment,” he stated.

The Royals are playing in the competition for only the second time, having bowed out at this stage two years ago against Al Hilal Benghazi.

Kitara will look up to experienced players Joel Mutakubwa, Murushid Juuko, Patrick Kaddu and Martin Kizza for inspiration.
