Vipers bow out of CAF Champions league

Vipers SC have had their CAF Champions League journey ended by Mauritanian champions FC Nouadhibou at the first preliminary round.
The Venoms needed a positive result at the Stade Cheikha Ould Boïdiya on Sunday evening to keep their dream alive but could not prevail as the two sides played out a goalless stalemate.
Nouadhibou advanced to the second preliminary round on the away goals rule following their 1-1 first-leg draw at Kitende.
Sidi Ahmed Mohamed’s equalizer at Kitende a week ago proved to be vital for Nouadhibou.
In Mauritania, Usama Arafat and Karim Watambala had several opportunities but failed to hit the target.
Yunus Sentamu had his effort hit the crossbar as Nouadhibou held on to a famous result.
Following their exit, the Venoms will now shift focus to their domestic campaign. They next host new league entrants Ntugasaze on Saturday at Kitende.
