Uganda Cranes captain Khalid Aucho has unearthed a long kept secret by revealing that the name “Aucho” with which he has all along known as is merely a moniker that was baptised to him by teammates during the early days.
The revelation was made to FUFA TV’s Alex Mugalu during an exclusive interview.
“…. It was in a village called Wanyama in Busoga. I was very good at dribbling when I was young and my teammates started calling me Aucho, Aucho
“Initially I did not like it and even my dad got surprised hearing people calling me Aucho and got inquisitive. All over a sudden everyone popularly started identifying me as Aucho and I kept it on to become official”
“My real name is Khalid Kakaire, ndi Mwesemena (Clan)”
Aucho’s outstanding football career has seen him play for host of clubs both local and foreign including Tanzania’s Simba, Yanga Africans and Singida Black Stars, Egypt’s Al Maqasa, India’s Churchill Brothers and East Bengal, Serbia’s Red Star Belgrade, South Africa’s Baroka, Kenya’s Gor Mahia and Tusker, and JMC Hippos in Uganda.
He has so far garnered 62 official caps for the Uganda national football team The Cranes.
