Muhammad Shaban joins Nairobi United FC as Ugandan contingent grows in Kenya

Uganda Cranes striker Muhammad Shaban has completed his move to Kenyan Premier League side Nairobi United FC.

The experienced forward joins Nairobi United as a free agent following his departure from Kitara FC, where he spent a short spell after joining the Hoima-based side in February 2026.

Shaban opted to leave Kitara at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season and has now embarked on a new chapter in Kenyan football.

At Nairobi United, Shaban will link up with a host of fellow Ugandans. The club already has Mustapha Kizza, Charles Waibi, Titus Ssematimba and Gavin Kizito, who was officially unveiled earlier this month.

The growing Ugandan presence has made Nairobi United one of the most followed clubs by Ugandan fans across the border.

Shaban is no stranger to the big stage. He rose to prominence during an impressive spell at Onduparaka FC before going on to feature for Uganda’s biggest clubs, including Vipers SC and KCCA FC.

The forward has also had spells abroad, featuring in Libya and Ethiopia, and had a stint with Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca. At one point, he was close to joining Kenyan giants Gor Mahia, although the move did not materialize.

Known for his strength, aerial ability and clinical finishing, Shaban’s experience across different leagues and with the Uganda Cranes adds another dimension to Nairobi United’s attack as the club continues to strengthen ahead of the new season.
