David GOMBEUganda Cranes attacker Allan Okello stole the headlines this week after completing his move from Tanzania’s Young Africans to Morocco side AS FAR on Saturday.

Rumours of his departure began on Wednesday when journalist Felix Jason revealed that Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca have submitted a $700,000 to sign the Uganda Cranes offensive midfielder from the Tanzanian champions.

On Friday, it was established that AS FAR had met Yanga’s asking price of $1million for the former Vipers and KCCA playmaker while Wydad were offering $700k.

During his time at KCCA FC, Okello scored 38 goals, recording as many assists in 113 games played winning the two league title and the Uganda Cup.

At Vipers he left as a domestic double winner, having played a defining role in Vipers’ 2024/25 Uganda Premier League and Stanbic Uganda Cup triumphs one of the most successful seasons in the club’s history.

He was the Uganda Premier League top scorer during the 2024/25 season with 19 goals and played a vital role for the Uganda Cranes during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as well as the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Okello also excelled at the 2024 CHAN tournament that was held in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania last year.

The attacker now reunites with his former coach Pedro Goncalves at AS FAR whom he worked with last season at Yanga. He returns to North Africa, three years since his departure at Algeria’s Paradou AC.
