Uganda Cranes defender Timothy Awany has announced his departure from Israeli club Ashdod FC after a spell of seven years.

Awany leaves Ashdod as a free agent following the expiry of his contract and the club’s unfortunate relegation from the Israeli Premier League at the end of the previous season.

Sinan Rajub SENOGAUganda Cranes defender Timothy Awany has announced his departure from Israeli club Ashdod FC after a spell of seven years.

“After seven wonderful years, it’s time for me to say goodbye. Thank you, Ashdod, for your support, friendship and dedication throughout this journey.” Awany says

“A big thank you to Jacki and Noni for the trust and belief. The memories, lessons and achievements we shared will always hold a special place in my heart,”

“I am grateful to have worked alongside such an amazing team, and I wish you all continued success and happiness in the future. Once a team, always a family.” He adds

The towering defender joined Ashdod FC in 2019 from Uganda Premier League side KCC FC.

He subsequently became a mainstay for the team and later became the first foreign player to play 100 games for the club.

Awany leaves Ashdod after playing a total of 190 games across all competitions, scoring one goal and one assist in the process.
