Not the legendary Hassan Mubiru but he carries the name, Hassan Mubiru scored the all important goal as SC Villa silenced KCCA FC at the FUFA Kadiba Stadium on Saturday.

KCCA who were eliminated from the Uganda Cup needed a response against their arch-rivals Villa in the Kampala derby to keep their title hopes alive.

David GOMBENot the legendary Hassan Mubiru but he carries the name, Hassan Mubiru scored the all important goal as SC Villa silenced KCCA FC at the FUFA Kadiba Stadium on Saturday.

Villa on the other hand had to win to stay within their title talk following Vipers and Kitara FC’s goalless draw at Kitende.

Mubiru’s second half strike potentially the goal of the season was enough to hand Villa their first league victory over KCCA since 2020 when they registered a 2-1 win over the Kasasiro boys.

Mubiru sensationally fired in from 25 yards to beat KCCA goalkeeper Mutwalib Mugolofa as well as winning the game for the Jogoos and misery for his former paymasters.

Villa’s best chance in the first period fell to Frank Ssebuufu who failed to hit the target following Mugolofa’s mistake early in the game.

Villa who next face Vipers on Wednesday stay fourth win with 44 points, a point below KCCA who are third on the log. KCCA will next host Kitara FC on Friday.
