Nam Blazers welcomed back Tonny Drilleba as they defeated Kampala Rockets 88-75 in the National Basketball League on Wednesday at Lugogo.

Drilleba, sidelined with an injury for most of the season, made his return in style for the Blazers.

The former Oilers star who was instrumental in last season’s playoffs where the team clinched their first title by beating City Oilers in the finals, contributed 5 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists in 30 minutes.

Drilleba now coaches KCCA Leopards in the Women’s division.

Nyembo Fataki led the scoring for the Blazers with 18 points, while Innocent Ochera and Peter Obleng added 17 and 13 points respectively.

For the Rockets, Gideon Kasasa scored 22 points, Francis Kasinde added 17, and Shafik Kinyera contributed 11, but their efforts were not enough to halt Blazers’ momentum.

The win marked the Blazers’ eighth consecutive victory since losing their season opener to City Oilers.

The Rockets, meanwhile, are struggling both on and off the court, fielding just one bench player amid financial challenges and irregular training sessions.
