Kitara FC has cruised into the Uganda Cup quarterfinals with a dominant 6-0 victory over Bunyaruguru at Royal Park in Butema.
Goals from Gaddafi Wahab, Jimmy Kalema, Kato Samuel, Benjamin Nyakoojo, George Ssenkaaba and Living Kabon sealed an emphatic win for Kitara.
Wahab set the tone with an early breakthrough in the 6th minute, before Kalema, returning after a two month injury layoff, double the lead before the break.
Defenders Nyakoojo and Kato also wrote their names on the scoresheet as the hosts made light work of the Kasese-based side.
Kitara, who eliminated UPL side Entebbe UPPC, join Happy Boys Kagaba, NEC FC and KCCA FC in the Quarterfinals.
It’s end of the road for Bunyaruguru who eliminated Amus College and Booma at previous rounds to reach this stage.
Kitara will fancy their chances to extend their run in this competition having won this competition in 2023/24 season when they beat NEC in the final at Wankulukuku.
The side is also still chasing their maiden league title, seated second with 46 points, four behind leaders and defending champions Vipers SC.
