Sir Apollo Kaggwa Primary School Kira has officially opened a modern basketball court, marking a major step in promoting sports and talent development alongside academics.
The colourful ceremony, held under the theme “Dribble Your Way to Greatness,” brought together school leaders, parents, pupils, and guests from Uganda’s basketball community.
The court was commissioned by Hudson Ssegamwenge, representing the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations.
He praised the school for investing in facilities that support both education and athletic growth among young learners.
A highlight of the day was an exhibition game between National Basketball League champions Namuwongo Blazers and JT Jaguars, which excited pupils and guests.
Headmistress Faridah Bukirwa thanked school management for supporting talent development. She encouraged parents to enrol children in the school’s sports and co-curricular programmes, including its Thunderbolt Sports Academy and participation in the Kampala Junior League.
Learners also met several top basketball players, including Ivan Muhwezi, formerly of City Oilers, and decorated star James Okello, who shared advice and signed autographs.
School leaders said the new court reflects their commitment to raising disciplined, confident learners through balanced academic and sports development.
